Whilst waiting for Dan and Ed to turn up i managed this photo of a Meadow Pipit on a wire, the background is a nice colour and really adds to the photo i feel.
After finally getting out the car we decided to look around the pools at Salthouse, unfortunately the large numbers of Widgeon and Teal that i could see from the car had flown off when a fisherman in a bright jacket walked too close to them, this Grey Plover and Little Egret were also visiting the pools but were far to nervous to hang around thus only allowing me flight shots, i am still pleased with them though!
Walking back to the car in search of a hot chocolate this Barn Owl was still hunting the adjacent fields even at 10am sometimes coming quite close to us
The only other birds of interest around Salthouse were the usual Redshanks, this time i managed a few flight shots of them which is something different to last time i was at Salthouse.
After leaving Dan and Ed i ventured to Cley Beach in search of Buntings and Shore Larks. Only saw 2 Snow Buntings but they were fairly obliging and despite the slightly overcast conditions allowed for some nice photos.
Stopped for lunch at Brancaster Staithe, always a good spot to see waders which included Dunlin, Ringed Plover, Curlew, Redshank, Little Egret, Oystercatcher and the obliging Turnstones that basically eat from your hand!
I went to Titchwell afterwards with the main aim of photographing Sanderling along the shoreline, i had some incredibly close views of them and took so many photos that i will save them for another time. My final destination was Holme Dunes NWT where i had great views of Goldcrest as well as Brambling, Redstart, another Barn Owl and a fleeting glimpse of a Red Flanked Bluetail. Overall a great day and some nice photo opportunities, cant wait to go back!
