A Redstart and Ravens

Just thought i would post these close-ups of Ravens. Unfrotunately they aren't wild but live at the Tower of London that i visited on Wednesday. Still i thought it was a great chance to appreciate what a magnificent looking bird they are!

Before my trip to London i visited Pegsdon (again!) in the morning and met up with Paul, here are a few pictures from that trip. The Redstart is a very shoddy pic but the best i could get being such a distance away, the crap weather didn't help....although managed to get my best Whinchat photos so far.

Another morning at Pegsdon - Wheatear Fest!

Spent the morning up Pegsdon Hills again. Spotted loads of birds including Goldfinches, a Redstart (only briefly), lots of Spotted Flycatchers and Meadow Pipits. Also managed to snap this Sparrowhawk, not great pictures but the best i could get!

Also spotted a few Wheatears, the first i've ever seen. Lovely birds, many photo's!

Rutland Water - Birdfair 2009!

Had a fantastic day with Dan and Ed up at Rutland Water for the annual Birdfair weekend. Managed to see my first Osprey very early on thanks to the guys and it was a truly amazing moment, the rest of the day was great...highlights being "twitching" Chris Packham, eating ice cream, the berry loving blackbird and spending money! All good! Enjoy the photos....

My Woodpecker (sort've!)

On the eve of my first ever visit to Birdfair (the UK's largest Birdwatching fair) at Rutland Water i am treated to my resident Green Woodpecker coming the closest he ever has to my house and allowing me some nice pictures, i think i'm the only one on my road who watches this chap digging up ants in the school playing field across from my house so i have officially decided that he is mine! Enjoy...
